Fine Art by Gill Bowman

Fine Art by Gill Bowman picture

Gillian (Gill) Bowman has had a diverse and rich journey through various fields. After retiring as a priest in the Anglican Church, she devoted her time to painting. Gill and her spouse, Roy, have made their home in Gqeberha. Their home offers them views of the Baakens River Valley Nature Reserve, a wellspring of inspiration for her art and the time and space to nurture her creative spirit.

Her mentors have included Tom Moore from the Learn to Paint Academy, the ETCHR Studio and the Milan Institute whose online courses she has attended, along with motivational courses by Jessica Serran. She is now under the mentorship of Prof. Estelle Marais.

As a prolific artist, Gill primarily works with acrylics, occasionally dabbling in watercolours. She also creates detailed and beautiful Mandalas. Her profound love for the arts shines through in her work, characterised by its creativity and exploration of diverse genres.

Gillian was invited to submit a work for an exhibition during September in aid of Rhino Conservation among a handful of other prestigious Port Elizabeth artists presently on exhibition at the GFI Gallery.  Gill has also exhibited regularly at the Art on the Varanda Christmas exhibition. She has also contributed to the MBA Gallery Landscape exhibition, and has been chosen to exhibit in the MBA Festival in February 2025.

As an emerging artist, Gill is open to exploring further exhibition opportunities and commissions, sharing her art with audiences far and wide.
